Sleep is probably one of the hardest things for me to fix. I have always been a light sleeper and that has only gotten worse as I have gotten older. I did a sleep study over a decade ago, because my energy levels are so low and it’s assumed that part of that is related to how little I sleep and lack of restorative sleep, and it came back inconclusive. I don’t have sleep apnea and the doctors assume that I just don’t sleep well because I’m in pain all the time.
In 2025, I decided to order my own cortisol test to see whether there was something up there. And, I found that my levels are very elevated. I’m currently under the care of an endocrinologist trying to figure out what my cortisol is chronically elevated. More tests to come and, maybe, I’ll finally figure out if cortisol is the reason why I can’t sleep enough.
More sleep, better recovery, hopefully more climbing!
